Marine Terminal Park

This parcel, originally re-developed as a park in the mid seventies served as a port for cargo brought up the Delaware River on ships. The gantry cranes used to unload the ships were retained as a historic feature (listed on the National Register) and a railing was added to the pier edge for safety.

Originally built on wood pilings in 1932, the pier has suffered from age and ice flow damage from the river and in 2003, a portion of the pier at the northernmost edge collapsed into the river. A steel piling system was designed and installed to stabilize the remaining pier and that portion of the park was reopened to the public.

The park provides access to the riverfront and for fishing along its entire length. Plans are being developed to rehabilitate the existing bathroom facility and the pathway that follows the water’s edge. This pathway will tie into the River-walk Park built above the Rt. 29 tunnel and continue north to the Katmandu Club (the former Cooper Foundry) at the 3 bridges. In addition, the pathway will be further developed to connect to an existing path that follows along the river south through the Trenton Boat Launch and to the border with Hamilton Township. Picnic facilities and abundant seating at the waters edge will also be included as well as the enhancement of an existing parking lot for easy access.
